Thousands of Kisumu City residents turned up to witness Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o’s inauguration at Kenyatta Sports Ground.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Justice Dorah Chepkwony who was assisted by chief magistrate Julius Ngar’ngar.
Kisumu Senator-elect Fred Outa, acting county secretary Ojwang Lusi, county commissioner Mohamed Maalim, Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor and Kisumu woman representative-elect Rosa Buyu were among guests at the ceremony.
Nyong’o was with his wife Dorothy.
In his speech, Nyong’o said he has 10 items in his agenda for the county’s development.
He demanded justice for victims of police brutality, singling out the case of six-month-old baby Samantha Pendo and 171 other victims.
“Seven people were killed and the whereabouts of four people remain unknown,” the governor claimed.

The new county boss pledged alliance to Raila saying he will transform the county which has suffered bad governance.
“We will use the constitution to ensure the fruits of devolution get to the people as was initially planned.
