K24 TV anchor, Betty Kyallo, has acquired a new name which was given to her by West Pokot Governor, John Lonyangapuo.
The journalist is currently in the county filming for her weekend interview show ‘Up Close With Betty’, where she will get candid with the popular county head.
“My new Pokot name Asis Sotin Cheporwala (Sun) given by the people and the good Governor John Lonyangapuo. Good morning,” she wrote on her social media.
Betty described Lonyangapuo as a lively guest, “For real, he is hilarious! Such an amazing leader. Enjoying the shoot. You guys will love it!”
Her post elicited mixed reactions from a section of Kenyans online, with many stating that she should consider marrying the governor.
“We will be happy if you accept to be the second lady of our governor,” one user wrote.
“Betty I hope that’s not dowry being presented at the back,” one Kenyan noted in Betty’s selfie with cows in the background.
Another noted that names from Pokot community were difficult to pronounce, “Majina ya Pokot hukuwanga ngumu ghai (their names are hard to pronounce).”
At the same time, Churchill Show will be filmed at Makutano Stadium in Kapenguria, West Pokot County, on Saturday, after Lonyangapuo declared his interest in performing at the live show.
Earlier in June, the applied mathematics professor disclosed that he would be willing to perform on the show if it was organised in his county.
“If Churchill wants me, even now, all roads should lead to West Pokot every Friday. I have a hall with a capacity of 3,000 people. Or how many does he expect?
“We will provide electricity, security, accommodation, audience, goats, chicken, and even honey so tell him to come and I will perform,” he divulged.
