Claims that Lee Njiru, who served as late ex-president Daniel Moi’s press secretary for 42 years began almost immediately after the late president passed on at the Nairobi hospital on Tuesday.
Kenyans on social media were quick to point out that Njiru who appeared on a dozen TV interviews looked like a younger Moi.
The claims were fuelled by his extensive knowledge of the clockwork that made the Moi presidency tick.
Njiru, has dismissed claims he is the son of the former commander in chief.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Njiru said he looked more of a younger brother to Moi.
“I was born in Embu in 1949, Daniel Moi had not been to Embu at that time, I am ready for a DNA test to prove this,” he said.
” I look more of a younger brother to him than a son, but if the test was to come out positive, I would also claim a share of his property,” he jokingly added.
