Pressure to have IEBC Chief Executive Ezra Chiloba resign is the next battle between NASA and Jubilee as each side seeks to ensure the playing field for the August polls favour them.
On the award of the Al Ghuriar tender, Chiloba’s name features prominently, with revelations that he gave President Uhuru a personal undertaking that he will deliver the tender to Al Ghuriar.
Uhuru’s interests in Al Ghuriar are both political and commercial. His family is a franchise holder in the printing firm. It is Al Ghurair which printed Jubilee manifesto and it is the same firm printing all Jubilee campaign merchandise, according to impeccable sources.
Chiloba won’t resign and can’ t be sacked. His benefactors won’t allow it. And the man is singularly determined to ensure President Uhuru rigs the election, for fear of himself being held accountable.
Chiloba knows he has committed criminal acts and will face the law when a system that promises to institute accountability in management of public resources and exercising of public authority is comes to power.
Like hundreds of other government officials who have scammed the country billions of shillings in shady tender deals, Chiloba has every reason to ensure President Uhuru; to whom plundering the public is a non-issue, retains his seat.
When he was picked by then Isaack Hassan team of commissioners to head the secretariat of the commission, it was against the backdrop of the suspension of then CEO James Oswago who had been charged in court over procurement irregularities ahead of the 2013 elections.
Chiloba, less meritorious but more gullible, was Isaack Hassan’s right hand man; someone who wouldn’t rock the boat or wreck the ship.
There were still billions to be plundered in exorbitant legal fees to a select pool of lawyers, suppliers, consultants and PR ‘experts’.
IEBC then, as it is now, was a cash cow.
Doubts still lingered on the veracity of the 2013 polls; and IEBC needed someone who will ‘let sleeping dogs lie’. Chiloba, from the word go, was a puppet. Today, he remains one, albeit now he dog whistles a lot.
There is no credible election with Chiloba and his axis of evil operating at IEBC. Forget it!
