Speaking to journalists at Mihang’o where he was on a meet the people tour to popularise his Nairobi Gubernatorial bid, Sakaja said “We will no longer tolerate an one individual who soil the good work this government is trying to do!” adding the clincher that “…my advise is that he leaves office before he is fired, and definitely he will be fired”
With such strong words from th nominated MP who is known to enjoy close relations with the President, Health PS Dr. Nicholas Muraguri is expected to hand in his resignation to President Uhuru Kenyatta any time now after his position became untenable following damning revelations of procurement irregularities at his ministry and that he also attempted to remove the docket’s internal auditor for ”constantly producing qualified audit reports” – something that is being deemed an attempt to eject the auditor for doing his job.
While most JP members are busy castigating opposition leader Raila Odinga for amplifying a highly incriminating draft audit report at the ministry of health, nominated MP Sakaja Johnson becomes the first high profile government insider to adopt an independent stand and demand the resignation of Health Principal Secretary Dr Nicholas Muraguri.
The uncharacteristic and unequivocal remarks by Hon. Sakaja are like a breath of fresh air to frustrated Kenyans and sends a strong anti-corruption message from within ruling party ranks.
As the accounting officer at the Health ministry Muraguri ought to take accountability. Instead he is recorded threatening journalists who exposed the sleaze at his ministry. And Sakaja’s knows that the ruling party’s dented reputation for good governance at further risk.
With Hon Sakaja’s remarks, observers intimate Muraguri’s days as PS are numbered and his fate is sealed. He will have to resign or be sacked by the appointing authority who has already expressed frustration on fighting graft within government.
