Senior Lawyer and NASA ‘Chief Justice’ TJ Kajwang’ has been moved to Milimani Law Courts to face capital offense charges after his dramatic arrest on Wednesday morning. He was taken to court on Thursday, February 1, following a night of drama pitting Police and NASA leaders who demanded access to meet the MP.
Hon Kajwang was arrested on Wednesday, January 31, at Milimani Law Courts in connection with the swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga and is set to face capital offense charges sources confirm he is being held at Milimani court cells and will be produced in court later today.
The legislator was arrested on Wednesday, January 31, at Milimani Law Courts by the flying squad police unit. He was accused of administering illegal oath.
DPP is reportedly planning to prosecute him using Section 59 and 60 of the Penal Code. This Section deals with offenses related to illegal oaths.
Kajwang’s arrest came moments after Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i issued a press briefing on what the government had decided to do after the oath-taking exercise that it had outlawed took place.
Matiang’i said the government had commenced investigations on those who played a role during the swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga. According to the Interior CS, the investigations will extend to all the conspirators and facilitators of the controversial inauguration ceremony.
