Competing with seasoned politicians the young Khalif has seemingly outshined many with his campaign tactics of NO to clan politics that is overwhelmingly gaining momentum.
The go-getter,crowd puller all time jovial aspirant landed in wajir county and was accorded a super reception by his supporters. Charged crowds thronged the airport road singing songs of praise and performing traditional dances as they accompany him to his roadside shows in wajir town.
Khalif who conducted several town hall meetings with women, youth and elders assured the residents of a transparent system that will do the oversight role without fear or favour. A part from being a politician he also believes in preserving the culture of his community as it is what defines the origin of a community.
Yesterday young Khalif was the talk of the town as he walked to IEBC offices for clearance dressed in the traditional somali attires synonymous with local community leaders a sign that some people say he was already sending a signal that he is ready to take up the leadership mantle of the community.
The white Kanzu, the traditional sheet known as ” shaal” mostly worn by the sultans and the beautiful walking stick is still the main discussion of the armchair quarterbacks in wajir county.
Speaking to kenya today on phone the activist- turned politician said that his main focus is to ensure that the more than 30 billion shillings his county gets after every 5 years changes the lives and livelihoods of his people.
