Hon Musalia Mudavadi DEMANDS Nkaissery and Boinnet RESIGNATION over Police BRUTALITY

Date:

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi is now demanding for the resignation of Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery and Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet over brutal assault on protesters.

Mudavadi said police took the lead from their superiors’ threats before the demonstrations to unleash terror on civilians during anti-IEBC protests. “Police follow orders and when the CS Interior issues threats, he is instructing police to commit crimes for which he should be held accountable,” he said.

He was speaking after a meeting to discuss rising tension and political violence in the country with the British High Commissioner Nic Hailey on Tuesday.

“He is responsible for operational discipline in the police service and he should be the first to apologise by resigning. I can believe he is serious if he said the known police officers have been arrested.” Mudavadi said police approach is a pointer that stalled police reforms are responsible for the police brutality witnessed when police use excessive force against protestors.

While condemning the beating of innocent people, Mudavadi said the Jubilee government has renegaded on police reforms paving way and strengthening the culture of violence by police. “Instead of pursuing reforms, Jubilee embarked on weakening the mandate of the National Police Commission. Reform through training has stopped.

Instead of a service, we’ve recreated and rearmed a brutal police force that has no respect for human rights,” he said. Mudavadi reiterated that IEBC commissioners should save the country the bloody agony by resigning. “Commissioners shouldn’t hold the country to ransom in contempt of public opinion. They have admitted Kenyans have lost their trust in their credibility. They should plead their innocence by resigning,” he said.
