EXPOSED: STATEHOUSE Summit on Corruption was designed to Project Ann Waiguru as CLEAN

Date:

Was statehouse summit meant to clear Ann Waiguru any wrong doing in the eyes of the public on the matter touching on NYS scandal?

Well, three Government officials involved in investigations of the infamous National Youth Service (NYS) scandal where Sh791 Million was stolen, on Tuesday disclosed why former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru had not been presented in court.

Speaking during the Anti-Corruption and Accountability Summit at State House, Director of Criminal Investigation Ndegwa Muhoro stated that he had not received any evidence to incriminate Ms Waiguru.

“I charge on basis of actionable evidence and I have not received any file to prosecute former CS Ann Waiguru,” Muhoro said.

At the same time, Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko mentioned that he had not received any file from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) office to charge the former minister.

“I have not received a single file on Anne Waiguru,” Tobiko noted.

The EACC CEO, Halakhe Waqo, on his side highlighted that investigations were still underway, therefore, no tangible report could be filed against the aspiring Kirinyaga Governor.

Ms Waiguru was in charge of the ministry when the scandal at NYS came to light with millions of shillings being reported to have disappeared.

The CS claimed to be a whistleblower in the scam that she claimed had been orchestrated to rob the Ministry.

However, the CORD coalition led by Raila Odinga opposed the allegations calling for her to be ejected from office.

Amid intense pressure from various quotas, Ms Waiguru finally handed her resignation letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta citing “doctor’s advice” as the major reason for her abrupt departure.
