Jubilee national co-coordinating committee chair Dr. Noah Wekesa has said President Uhuru has promised to back a presidential candidate from the region in the 2022 elections.
Wekesa, who addressed party officials of New Ford Kenya, UDF, URP and TNA from Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga and Busia counties said the 2017 race will be a two horse race between ODM’s Raila Odinga and President Uhuru and urged presidential candidates from the region to support President Uhuru.
When asked about Uhuru’s pledge to back Deputy President Wiliam Ruto, he said he has seen the merger agreement between TNA and URP and it doesn’t say anything on 2022.
He also reminded western that even Senate Majority Leader Prof. Kithure KIndiki recently said there was no arrangement to back Ruto in 2022.
During the meeting, MPs from the region who support President Uhuru demanded for a political war-chest of sh2 billion saying the region is hostile.
