Royal Media Services, a company that owns the largest TV network in Kenya -Citizen TV and affiliated radio stations made a big harvest as CEO Waruru Wachira, Chief Operating Officer Farida Karoney and top anchor Julie Gichuru got appointed to various state jobs by President Uhuru.
Although the RMS company owned Mr Macharia supported Raila Odinga in the 2013 general elections, most of the station’s content was largely pro Uhuru with Juliee Gichuru, Farida Karoney and Jacque Maribe leading the band.
Farida Karoney is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
Mrs Gichuru, who is alleged to do image consultancies for the government, will sit in the board of Brand Kenya while Caroline Mutoko and Farida Karoney will serve as board members at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
KBC is on its deadbed owing to dominance of Royal Media services, one wonders how boad members working as managers of a competition are to help KBC, or is Uhuru setting KBC for failure and subsequent acquisition by Royal Media Service via disposal?
Apart from Karoney, Royal Media Services CEO Â Wachira Waruru has also been appointed to the board of the Kenya Cultural Centre alongside thespian and ex Nation Radio breakfast host Ted Muthusi, East African Breweries executive Eric Kiniti and Millicent Ogutu.
It is not clear if their appointment is a reward for a job well done at Royal Media services or its purely coincidence.
