Baringo Senator Hon Gideon Moi was today bestowed with great honors of receiving regional kingpin and Uganda dictator President Yoweri Museveni as he arrived for a regional infrastructure summit hosted by President Uhuru.
There was much talk of why a mere senator was tasked by Statehouse to receive a head of state and not deputy president Hon William Ruto. Is this a sign that Gedion fits the position of the country’s number 2 better than Bill? any relation with the expected realignment in 2017?
William Ruto has tried to court Museveni to no much success, in 2012 he went to Uganda for vacation with his family and more recently he endorsed Museveni for presidency in the up-coming general election.
Gideon is a childhood friend of Uhuru, the two were classmates at the prestigious st Mary’s school in Nairobi. Uhuru’s other classmates include former personal assistant to president Kibaki Alfred Getonga, top business magnate Jimmy Wajigi, Corruption Czar John Githongo among others.
Whereas Senator Moi is busy meeting and receiving heads of state like Yoweri Museveni and Jakaya Kikwete, DP Ruto has been reduced to a jubilee ‘attack dog’ competing with Duale and Murkomen on who best abuses Raila. Not even Hon Waititu does such cheap errands for Statehouse like abusing PM Odinga.
DP Ruto is also busy chasing after independent minded and devolution defender Gov Isaack Ruto, many think DP Ruto is petty. His office is a beehive of activity with MPs especially those from Mt Kenya seeking his blessings to win lucrative tenders in government. Hardly a week passes without DP Ruto officiating an event in Muranga or Kiambu. He visits Central more than his expanisive home turf of Rift Valley.
Here is how pundit Kipruto Chirchir captured it on Facebook:>>
And the Mt Kenya Mafia know when to use and dump. After Raila help them ascend to the presidency, they did not bother to ‘rudisha mkono’ . When Kalonzo helped salvage the contested 2007 election results, they didnt support his presidential bid. Infact they removed him from G7. Now it will be Ruto’s turn to face the inevitable come 2022 or 2017. Their modus operandi is predictable. Watch this space.
Francis Onyango KÓwuor had this to say>>>
Gedion Moi was sent to receive President Yoweri Moseveni at the airport.
Museveni and other East African heads are attending a conference on Northern Integrated Corridor project.
This is not the first time Gideon is sent on some diplomatic errand.
You know the political war Gideon is having with Ruto in the Rift Valley.
Whether known or unknown to William Ruto former President Moi and Uhuru Kenyatta have a succession plan ready.
And you know they have the wherewithal and machinery to ensure it succeeds.
I only pray they rope in Dr. Evans Odhiambo Kidero.
Beggars can’t be choosers. And on this I’m a beggar

Daniel Moi was a close ally of Jomo Kenyatta. Once Jomo passed on, Daniel Moi inherited the throne. History has it that after the death of Jomo, Moi ensured Jomo’s family welfare and businesses were protected. Fast forward to 1997, Moi introduced young Uhuru Kenyatta to politics even when UK was by then a little reluctant to join the murky world.
It’s worthing noting that Moi settled on Uhuru despite Jomo having many sons. Moi saw something in Uhuru that none other in Jomo Kenyatta’s lineage had. Come 2002, the professor of politics handed over the mantle to Uhuru Kenyatta leaving out several other politicians in KANU; who by far had a bigger national wide appeal and experience.
And that marked the official beginning of the rise of UK. We might not agree on this but Uhuru Kenyatta is politically indebted to Moi. The two families are inseparable.
Gideon Moi is trying to make in roads in north rift politics. Unlike the past, Gideon has been aggressive lately. Some kind of vibrance absent before 2014. Not once has he been seen courting rift valley politicians worth mentioning.
In certain instances he has been seen closely interacting with Uhuru. And he has made his intentions clear. His eyes are firmly focused on succeeding Uhuru Kenyatta even as his Kalenjin brother William Ruto dismisses him as a non-starter and a toddler in Politics.
However much we all know/imagine/assume that Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta are bossom friends, only a fool would totally dismiss the probability of Uhuru passing the baton to Gideon despite the MOU between him and his DP.
Daniel Moi too owed a lot of people who ensured he became president in 1978, others stood by him in 1982 attempted coup while others ensured he still ‘won’ during the 1992 ‘multi party elections.
Some were known Moi loyalists while others were die hard sycophants but at the end of the day, Moi picked the naive Uhuru as his preferred successor. Same way, many worked tirelessly to see Uhuru become the fourth president but let’s wait and see when that time comes, whether UK will follow ‘in the footsteps’.
