The battle for Nairobi’s Governor’s seat has now taken a new twist with under hand deals being crafted to edge out leading candidates from the race.
Dagoreti South MP Denis Waweru and TNA nominated MP Johnson Sakaja are now using a smear campaign to spoil the relationship between Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Mt. Kenya mafia but it backfired after the NIS confirmed it was just a smear campaign by the 2 non-starters.
According to the latest campaign strategies by the two political green horns, Sonko will have to be forced out of the ruling Jubilee coalition before nominations for the Nairobi Governor’s seat. Waweru has even employed the service of a Nation Media Editor Billy Muiruri to do smear campaign against Sonko. Just last week through Muiruri, Waweru hired a blogger to spread romours on Sonko’s alleged death.
One of the strategies by Waweru is to paint Sonko as a CORD sympathizer and make him look bad among the Jubilee supporters who overwhelmingly voted for him in the 2013 general election.
However despite the malicious propaganda sources indicate that Sonko has vowed to face his Jubilee fierce rivals in the nominations before facing off with Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
More people continue to show interest in the Nairobi Governor’s post . So far, those who have declared interest include Sonko, Sakaja, Waweru, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, and political comedian Miguna Miguna. The current governor, Dr Evans Kidero, will be running for a second term.
