President Uhuru Kenyatta has today landed in Kajiado Central constituency to try to salvage the sinking ship of Jubilee Alliance Party candidate Patrick Tutui.
Uhuru, whose handlers had earlier claimed will not physically campaign in the region after sending the Deputy President William Ruto threw in the towel as polls indicated ODM candidate Memusi Kanchory will win with a landslide.
The president is currently in several campaign stop-overs in the constituency whose parliamentary leadership fell vacant after he poached ODM legislator Joseph Nkaissery to join his regime.
The candidature of Patrick Tutui on Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) is facing serious defeat with a fallout in the TNA membership at the constituency.
Several Maa leaders have distanced themselves with the new outfit, claiming the Maa have no stake in it. The president is therefore seeking to woo a base increasingly slipping out of his control even as he already appointed one of the community’s top leaders to his government.
Ruto’s URP Chairman Hon Francis Ole Kaparo is said to have refused to register his presence in Kajiado citing flimsy excuse of being in public service- that is puzzling considering CS Joseph Nkaiserry is on the campaign trail.
ODM candidate Memusi Kanchory is highly expected to clinch the seat.
