Dennis Itumbi is currently releasing information detailing how Uhuru Kenyatta as the then powerful Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade connived with ODM rebel Agriculture Minister Hon William Ruto to push for importation of Sugar into the country.
The reason Itumbi and Statehouse are giving is that Raila was Prime Minister and a weaker Coalition principal in government whom Mt Kenya loaded over in many decisions. It is on record that Prime Minister Odinga often complained many a times of NOT BEING CONSULTED in some of the retrogressive government decisions masterminded by Kibaki and the mt kenya mafia.
Here is Itumbi’s sorry post:>>>
Date: 14th August 2008
Event: Deputy PM and Minister for Trade Uhuru Kenyatta Gazettes a Sugar Safeguard Committee
Details: The Deputy PM formed a team in 2008 to ensure Sugar reforms were implemented. All stakeholders including farmer associations were included. At the time PM Raila Odinga who was head of Government did not see any problem with importation.
Evidence: Attached on the update
Fact. First. Fast
ODM top blogger Phil Wesonga wondered loud that Statehouse was getting at with the release of so called Sugar Facts that seem to undermine the president, here below is what Wesonga posted on his FB Timeline >>
So what was the outcome of this committee if, seven years later, problems persist and seem to have gotten worse in the local sugar industry? Dennis, this kind of PR and propaganda is unhelpful to sugar farmers and sugar factories at this point in time.
Uhuru was trade and finance minister for years with representative in all the boards of the sugar companies. Similarly, DP Ruto was Agriculture minister for years. Can you show us what the two did for sugar farmers aside from forestalling the long awaited privatization and interfering with the defunct Kenya Sugar Board which was then charged with licencing sugar importers? Lastly, quit playing politics with the livelihoods of our people; we do not want to be reminded what happened in 2008.
Show us the deal that was signed between Kenya and Uganda. Who are the facilitators, who are the guarantors and who are the beneficiaries?
