Hundrends of thousands of Sugar Cane farmers thronged Chemilil grounds to protest against Uhuru’s Uganda Sugar deal that experts have warned will lead to collapse of the local sugar industry. There were emotional scenes as the rains pounded the area while the rally continued but farmers refused to disperse insisting the meeting must continue.
In the Photos farmers are keenly listening despite heavy rains, and Prime Minister Odinga also declined offers of umbrella from his aides saying he would rather be rained on with the long suffering cane farmers of Nyando.
Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga’s presence was a strong message of solidarity with cane farmers.
Later PM Odinga met thousands of farmers in Nambale Busia county.
