The planned rallies by opposition ODM party to counter ICC rallies by Jubilee politicians has seen the ruling coalition come out to viciously dismiss the rallies even before they are held, revealing the high stakes the two political sides are daring to go ahead of 2017.
Already intelligence sources had warned Statehouse that the Kuria’s UhuruFixedRuto revelations were causing discomfort among the Rift Valley natives and may awaken the debate historical injustices in the region. Intelligence warned that the resurgent Raila may use the Kuria revelations to clear his name with the Kalenjins and present another headache for Uhuru in 2017.
Other Statehouse operatives are said to be of the opinion that Rift Valley as a block is not important at the moment, if retired president Moi can deliver the small kalenjin tribes of Tugen, Marakwet, Pokot,Keiyo then Uhuru can compliment with the gains in Western Kenya, Kisii, Somali and Coastal tribes. Ruto can nomand his Kipsigis and Nandi votes to wherever- not a big a headache.
Speaking this morning on Nation TV’s Power BreakFast Show, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah even claimed the rallies will be anti-Kikuyus, a charge former Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim dismissed.
Maalim, a long serving ODM politician, revealed the ODM party will explain itself to the people on the ICC issue with regard to DP Ruto case, a development he said should have happened long time ago. Maalim also revealed ODM Leader Raila Odinga now have leeway to explain himself following revelations by PNU that it fixed the Deputy President William Samoei Ruto.
ODM will have a series of political events in Eldoret, Kericho and Bomet in the coming week.
