General Tawfiq Ababu Namwanba won hearts of many young people immediately he got to Parliament in 2007 when he blatantly refused to mention Kibaki’s name during his swearing in as MP for Budalangi.
But that wasn’t the end of it. He continued to inspire many of us throughout his parliamentary contributions and TV talk shows which he shrewdly delivered.
When he declared interest in ODM Secretary General position, he received overwhelming support because of the trust young folks put on him. It was an open fact that Ababu was going to floor any fool who competed against him.
Then shit happened at Kasarani.
MIB fucked up the elections. . He nonetheless became the SG after names of the ODM NEC members were concocted at Elementaita for the sake of peace. Hehe.
Then the big shit happened.
The Namwanba we knew would make the most progressive SG leading the largest patty in the region after CCM became incorrigibly incompetent and emotionally withdrawn from ODM party activities.
Now, here comes the elephant in the house.
They say in politics, nothing fails unless it’s planned to fail. So, there are only two possible reasons to explain Ababu’s performance as SG:
1. Either he has been sabotaged by status quo in the party to the point that he can’t substantively carry out his duties as SG; or
2. The good general completely lost interest in ODM. As to why he lost interest? I don’t know! There are several contributory factors, but I’ve no crystal ball.
