The battle for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat is now taking shape after Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko who was recently declared clean by the EACC announced his bid to oust Evans Kidero from City Hall.
Hon Sonko officially declared that he’ll be on the ballot in 2017 on a Jubilee Alliance party ticket to vie for the Nairobi Governors seat which has so far attracted the interest of political novice Dagoreti South MP Dennis Waweru and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru who have both declared their bid on a JAP ticket.
Hon Waweru is a project of Starehe MP Maina Kamanda a former Councillor who has lost deals worth millions of Shillings at City Hall under the Kidero leadership. Kamanda wants to take charge of City Hall again to restore his deals in garbage collection and protect the public land he and his fellow MP’s allegedly grabbed during their tenure at City Hall.
Speaking at St Vincent Catholi Church Kamulu Kasarani Constituency Sonko hit out at Kamanda for engaging in tribal politics in the City. The Senator said he’ll fight it out for the JAP Gubernatorial ticket like all others.
“ I will fight for the JAP ticket and only the President, his deputy and Nairobi voters will stop me from vying not Kamanda, “ said an agitated Sonko. ” I have no problem with Kikuyus since I have married Kikuyu wives, but I have a problem with a few greedy selfish MPs. I will support for the re-election of the Jubilee government for another term. I will also do the same come 2022 in support of the DP William Ruto. My strategy is to marry wives from all the tribes in Kenya so that I have kids all over the country by doing so we will be spreading peace, love and unity” he said.
Hon Sonko was accompanied by NACADA Director and super artist Jaguar, JAP 2017 Parliamentary and County Assembly aspirants, 16 TNA MCA’s and Embakasi West MP George Theuri who have all vowed never to join the Kamanda team largely comprised of former councilors.
