In a statement, Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony terms the photo that has gone viral on social media a creation of ‘ill-minded individuals’. The photoshop is believed to have been posted by State House blogger Dennis Itumbi, who was among the first people to post it on his social media account with the rider: ‘Caption this’.
I’m deeply saddened and surprised with the shocking photo of Bomet Governor, H.E, Isaac Ruto and I, which has gone viral in the social media, showing the two of us seated while H.E, President Uhuru Kenyatta, was addressing the congregation in Bomet Green Stadium during yesterday’s church service.
I wish to state that, this photo is a creation of some ill-minded individuals whose technological tricks of photoshop, are just after to strain my cordial relationship with the President.
While I appreciate the freedom of expression and that of the media, I wish to condemn such an act of misinformation and mudslinging, whose ultimate goal is to wage non existing political enmity amongst a section of leaders.
The photo in itself portrays alot of inconsistencies as it combines a past photo with yesterday’s. The purported photo for instance, falsely showed that I was seated beside Governor Rutto, yet the truth is that I was seated behind him in the second row as shown in the photos below.
Secondly,if you keenly look at the President’s attire in the distorted and falsified photo, it is totally different with what the President had put on during yesterday’s meeting.
The photo further went on to wrongly show that Bomet East MP, Hon Bernard Bett, was in the first row standing next to the Deputy President. This was not the case.
For those convinced to believe such bare lies, I wish to take you back to my address during that church service where I commended the President and his government for implementing various projects in the region and more specifically in Kericho county. How then would I have turned around and disrespect the head of state just by remaining seated while giving his address?
My conscience is clear and no such propaganda will destabilise my mutual relationship with the President and the Deputy President.
The photo is alleged to have been first published by Dennis Itumbi, an employee of State House.
This is the truth of the matter concerning the photo which has been doing rounds in the social media over the alleged disrespect to the president by Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto and I,during the recent church service at Bomet Green Stadium by remaining seated while the head of state was giving his address.Just have a look at this clip!
