As journalists wait for the cabinet reshuffle at state house, a function that ought to have been underway by now  but has reportedly been delayed by the Deputy President, who has ducked it, now for a third time, a number of Rift Valley URP MPs have been seen entering DP Ruto’s Karen residence.
The meeting, according to sources, has been called to prepare for any eventuality in the event President Uhuru decides to reshuffle the cabinet without Deputy President Ruto’s involvement.
In the latest stand-off, it is reported that Ruto gave a list of persons who were to be appointed to top government jobs including ambassadors, heads of parastatals, principal secretaries and board members of various government agencies, however, the names were changed again.
According to sources, the DP was invited to statehouse two weeks ago and the final list he was presented to review before making a joint announcement by the president had names that were not in his primary list.
The DP is under pressure from his Kalenjin base to not cede more ground to President Uhuru, who is keen to eat into the URP (read Kalenjin) share of appointments to appease other communities while maintaining the TNA (read kikuyu) share.
