Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero yesterday played host to CORD Leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga at a huge public rally at Kibera’s Olympic Primary School where a harambee was also held for Mzalendo Selfhelp Group that the former Prime Minister helped to establish during his time as local member of parliament.

A total of Ksh.1.75million was raised, but it is Kidero’s unequivocal pledge to take charge of Raila Odinga presidential campaign in Nairobi that got tongues wagging since the Governor was deemed by some in ODM as having defected with some rebel Luo MPs.

To the surprise of many, the normally aloof and detached Kidero not only arrived at the rally on time and well ahead of Chief Guest Rt. Hon Raila Odinga, he was also seen freely moving around and mingling with the crowds at Kibera while waiting for the arrival of Rt. Hon. Odinga and at one point joined a women group for a dance.

The photos of the large crowds from yesterday’s event has sent Jubilee MPs who were plotting to have Dagoretti South MP David Waweru for face Governor Kidero in a gubernatorial run in 2017. The Maina Kamanda led group were reported to have convened an emergency meeting Monday morning to discuss the political ramifications of the mammoth rally convened in Kibera by ODM legislators.
