It was drama as ODM top lawyers and supporters were tossed from one police station to another serching for the Lord Mayor George Aladwa who had been incarcerated for imagined hate speech.
It all started at Kilimani Police Stationand later Kamukunji police station as lawyers were taken round circles as they tried to secure release of the lord mayor.
Aladwa was moved from one police station to another the whole day. The intention was to buy time so that he spends the weekend in police custody. After the court granted him bail, the officers at Kamukunji police station said he had to be transferred to Kilimani police station where the bail will be processed.
There was no need whatsoever of harassing The Lord Mayor George Aladwa Omwera by sending the flying squad to arrest him and detain him over imagined hatespeech remarks. The police should’ve just summoned him for questioning as required by the law.
But that isn’t what they’ve done because Jubilee regime doesnt respect the rule of law. Uhuru regime should not use intimidation and police brutality to suppress the opposition. Whether Aladwa is guilty as Uhuru and his band want us to believe is immaterial.
The rule of law must be fairly applied when dealing with opposition and those who enjoy power and think they will rule forever like Uhuru and his friends. We never saw the serial hatespeech monger, Mutahi Ngunyi, arrested, neither were the flying squad sleuths sent to hunt after Moses Kuria. Not even the rapist Mugo Wa Whatever was hunted by police.
They were treated with dignity and respect and the rule of law was followed until they were charged in court. They were accorded this treatment because they are TNA members. So on Aladwa (ODM member), someone is sitting in office at Harambe House drinking tax payers’ expensive coffee and want us to believe that Aladwa is guilty and deserves the mistreatment.
Uhuru handlers must know that the continued mistreatment of the opposition leaders and supporters will escalate the dissent against the regime. It won’t stop it.
Finally, to Uhuru Kenyatta, his TNA right-wing and their friends commanding the police service; Kenyans will win whether you apply the law correctly or you intentionally misapply it. Just like we won against Kanu regime so shall triumph over TNA regime.
You can not eat your cake and have it. Tumekataa.
