Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has strangely ordered ODM leader Raila Odinga to record a statement after weekend comments by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who alleged that apart from himself and Narc Kenya leader, then powerful minister in Kibaki regime, ODM also fixed Ruto.
Kuria did not mention Raila by name but dragged in ODM a day later when it was apparent his comments had shaken Kalenjin group in government. Reports are DP Ruto has demanded an explanation, so are URP leaders digging in on the issue to ‘save Ruto’.
The DPP, pundits opine, is pandering to a shocked TNA side already on full scale damage control, for Kuria’s comments are the closest Mt. Kenya has come to revealing it fixed DP Ruto, then a powerful ODM MP, Deputy Party Leader and minister.
Critics accuse DPP for playing politics as he failed to investigate senior officials in Uhuru regime who had been in the past accused of fixing the DP. For instance, Kericho Senator Charles Keter and DP Ruto’s lead counsel Karim Khan pointed accusing finger at Senior Uhuru advisor Nancy Gitau, Mutea Iringo and Francis Kimemia but the DPP investigated none of these people.
Roping in Raila’s name is meant take away focus from Kuria and his team of fixers (Mt. Kenya mafia) to Raila Odinga.
Raila’s legal advisor Mr. Paul Mwangi is yet to comment on the issue.
