Deputy President William Ruto has summoned top Kalenjin politicians to his Karen home residence (URP version of Statehouse) to discuss the continued mistreatment of URP wing in the Jubilee government.
‘H.E Ruto is not happy with the continued marginalisation of URP by top Statehouse operatives’ a senior Kalenjin politicians told this writer. Of all the previous appointments made by Uhuru, the names in the list forwarded by Deputy President to Statehouse has been mutilated, replacing names with those not known by DP.
In the latest stand-off, it is reported that Ruto gave a list of persons who were to be appointed to top government jobs including ambassadors, heads of parastatals, principal secretaries and board members of various government agencies however the names were changed again.
The DP was invited to statehouse two weeks ago and the final list he was presented to review before making a joint announcement by the president had names that were not in his primary list.
DP Ruto has previously included for appointment names of people not necessarily from his Kalenjin for strategic reasons and was angered to see names of people from Mt Kenya featuring in the URP share of jobs.
It is expected that after deliberations the resolutions will be passed to Statehouse as the last push to have the URP nominees for various positions to be included otherwise Uhuru can proceed and announce the changes singularly with massive ground zero shift to CORD and possibilities of impeaching Uhuru.
