December 25, 2018 Leave a Comment

There are strong signs that DP William Ruto is regaining his lost power in Statehouse, Uhuru seems to have softened stance against his cartel powered deputy after a successful Nyanza tour.

Uhuru made several state appointments mainly boards of parastatals and guess who got the lion’s share? yes, DP Ruto allies were the biggest beneficiary with about 45% while Uhuru got 35% and Raila’s share was around 10%. Most of those who got appointed from Nyanza and Western are mainly Uhuru Ruto allies; they include Hon Augustine Neto, Dr Raymond Omollo among others.

There is panic among camp Handshake as most of the names that were forwarded to Statehouse fir appointment were all left out.

Those appointed included:

Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore and his Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group counterpart Joshua Oigara to the Vision 2030 Delivery Board.

In a gazette notice, President Kenyatta also appointed four others – Julianna Rotich, Rita Kavashe, Nick Nesbitt, Muchai Kunyiha – to the board alongside the two.

The Head of State further appointed former Funyula Member of Parliament Paul Otuma to chair the Privatization Commission and Peter Kaberia Nkubutu as the chair the Board of the Kenya National Trading Corporation.

Njoroge Nani Mungai was appointed as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Information and Communications Technology Authority from December 14, 2018 up to April 17, 2021.

Mr. Mungai now steps in for Edwin Yinda whose appointment was revoked. Mr. Yinda will, however, now chair the Board of the Postal Corporation of Kenya following his appointment by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.

Others include Mary Njoki Ndiba, former Starehe MP Maina Kamanda and Joseph Too to be members of the NGO Co-ordination Board.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando was among eight appointed by Treasury CS Henry Rotich to be members of the Board of Local Authorities Provident Fund. The others are Linda Khaemba, Romana Yego, Fatuma Salim, Osman Hassan, Lawrence Gitonga, Morintat Leboo and Jackson Rop.
