The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) condemns the act of violence by goons witnessed yesterday in Dandora which led to the burning of the party office and massive destruction of property.
The ODM takes great exception to the incident which is criminal and against the fundamental tenets of democracy and the rule of law.
We are concerned that the law enforcement agencies seem to have abdicated their responsibility of maintaining law and order as this happened in their presence.
The grievances raised by the warring factions fighting for the party leadership in Dandora are among those that were filed with the Nairobi County Disputes Resolution Board and which are being addressed hence the postponement of the election of the County Office bearers.
We urge all our members and supporters to remain calm and exercise patience as the Disputes and Resolution Board deals with the petitions presented to them.
The party is categorical that any act of violence and indiscipline in the name of supremacy and which will cause harm to humanity and destruction of property is criminal and the police must take the necessary action allowed in law.
