They say that what an old man can see while seated, a young man cannot see while standing. Retired President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi has seen something in Deputy President William Ruto that other Kalenjins are not seeing.
Moi has seen a political broker in Ruto. In a joint statement to the press on Monday, 30 the former President said KANU will not join the newly formed Jubilee Party because it believes in multi-party democracy.
He critisized Deputy President William Ruto for pushing the Kalenjin community to join the Jubilee Party by force.
Last week, Ruto held a private meeting with 5,200 leaders from the Rift Valley and begged them to support the formation of the Jubilee Party.
The meeting was attended by Governors, Senators, MPs, MCAs, former Councillors, women leaders and youth leaders.
Baba Moi said it is wrong for Ruto to dwell on politics and his presidential ambitions when Kenyans have serious problems in 2015.
“I am asking the Kalenjin community to tread carefully. They should not accept to be used by political brokers. As a community, we should negotiate with President Uhuru Kenyatta directly and not via brokers,†the leaders said in a statement.
