Terror suspect Abdirahim Abdullahi (in a white shirt) with colleagues during his stint at a leading local bank.

That deceiving amazing smile, softie and humble people person!. It is alleged that he got radicalized due to the rot in the system that never gave him chance. The death of meritocracy is largely to blame for massive radicalization of elite youth in Kenya.

Blogger Odongo had noted as much in his Facebook page>>>

“So a law graduate was among the Al-Shabaab. That’s the reality those of us who ‘tried’ schooling are facing. Immediately you come out, you’ve got all these ideas and want to make a change but what happens? They appoint some woman who faked her degree to be the board chair/CEO of Uwezo Fund. You see some fellow who faked certificate to diploma in charge of ‘strategic communications’ (Troll Army). Some 80 year old is recycled in the public service at Lapsset, despite working in the government for over 50 years. The Inspector of Police have everything about him fake or ‘classified’. They then tell you to apply for youth fund, or to work in Huduma Centre, where you process driving licences and passports and IDs. . .jobs which a std 5 drop out can still do. Truth is, those who get radicalised are not of simple minds. They are not buffoons. These are the best and brightest. And because they are the best and the brightest, they get so pained to see opportunities dwindle and the proverbial ‘fair shot at life’ increasingly becoming a mirage. They then start getting ideas; how to change things real quick. Some vent their anger and frustrations here on Facebook and when unlucky, like the Allan Wadi who studied at Starehe Boys Centre before Joining Moi University to study political science, get jailed in a day. The best try to do something about their situations.
The best can be the ‘baddest’.
This country must begin to have a very ugly conversation with itself. President Uhuru must again ‘re-found’ this country. The class structure in this country cannot long endure. Ever read William H. Seward’s the ‘Irrepressible Conflict”?”
