Yesterday 24th January IEBC released the list of names of candidates nominated by respective parties for the 4th March general election. The list as was expected, confirms ODM and TNA the leading horses.
Raila Odinga’s ODM is leading the pack with nominated candidates for governor in 31 counties, 35 for senate seats, 29 for women’s representatives and 243 for parliament. The parties in Odinga’s CORD coalition have also filled quite a substantial number making the coalition the largest with nominees from all corners of the country.
Mr Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA is fielding candidates for senator and governor in 30 counties and 221 for parliamentary.
UDF a party that is alleged to have been founded by the state spy agency operatives NSIS, president Kibaki’s private secretary Nick Wanjohi and Nyeri activists Mary Wambui only managed to nominate 10 candidates for governor race, six in senate and 126 for Parliament representing a 15% of the available seats.
Nominating less than 10 candidates for governor and senate race is a confirmation that UDF never gained momentum to move beyond Mululu and its environs, the party is a white elephant and Musalia should be cursing the “MADIMONI” that promised him so much only to deliver nothing.
It is in Jubilee’s interest that Musalia maintains his walk to the ballot; with the hope that he garner manage at least 200,000 votes in his western Kenya base. It is an open secret that any votes Mudavadi will get are indirect votes for Uhuru Kenyatta; Mudavadi’s candidature is only expected “eat” into Raila Odinga’s base, to that extent Musalia’s run is valuable, reason enough for the dark forces to continue funding his western Kenya focused campaigns.
The revelation by IEBC is a warning shot to Western Kenya voters, it is now an open secret that Musalia was a paper tiger, a fact likely to anger Western Kenya voters who he has been lying to that he will finish the game in 90 minutes. With this figures I can bet Musalia’s candidature is as good as terminated. Musalia should be prepared to hold small baraza meetings of mainly senior citizens who may buy his victim alibi.
Western Kenya leads in the number of undecided voters, the latest IpsosKenya Poll puts western Kenya 2nd largest block with 17% (just behind Coast with 23 %) undecided largely due to the fact that many were waiting to see how campaigns shape up for the home boy, with the IEBC figures I can bet CORD is the party of choice for Wester Kenya electorate, the undecided will effectively move to CORD. Nobody will want to be associated with a village leader with little national impact.
Mudavadi’s political survivor hangs on a thin thread, the same MADIMONI that were backing his candidature are rumoured to have wrestled the Othaya TNA nomination certificate from his patron Ms Mary Wambui, leading her to stage a night raid at IEBC demanding her name to be reinstated in the roll of TNA aspirants. IEBC has since threatened disciplinary action against Wambui and who know what such dark forces can do!
Just lets say the project is dead, it was one of those white elephants of the Moi era, this must be causing the man from Mululu sleepless nights; oh what happens to bull fighter Boni Khawale? what of bald head Dr Kituyi ? Shitanda with his unrecognized degree or was it a diploma? their sin was just banking on a wave that could give them an easy ride to elective positions, now they have to sweat for it.
For political consultant Mutahi Ngunyi; its just one of those assignments where lucky fails to trike! For the western voters come March 4th “tumia akili in all the six slots!
