Mary Wambui took her battle for Othaya TNA nomination to IEBC tuesday evening, it was reported that WambuI and Rachel Shebesh stormed IEBC offices demanding that she be included in the TNA nomination list.
In an earlier press briefing Ms Wambui confirmed she has been denied The National Alliance (TNA) nomination to contest the Othaya parliamentary seat despite registering victory in the January 18th primaries.
She alleged powerful dark forces were out to block her bid and the wishes of the Othaya voters. The local DC, two DO’s, the OCPD and the OCS in Nyeri have been transferred for failure to stop Mary Wambui’s Othaya victory-Â Ms Wambui added.
Wambui beat Gichuki Mugambi, who had the backing of President Kibaki’s son, Jimmy, in a disputed vote, a local FM station confirmed Mugambi was given the ticket.
The party however issued this statement:
The National Alliance Party (TNA) wants to state that Ms Mary Wambui won the nominations on January 19 2013.
However, aspirant Gichuki Mugambi registered a dispute, which was resolved in Ms Wambui’s favour. But Mr Mugambi appealed and this is what is pending. Ms Wambui, therefore, has NOT been denied a certificate.
We wish to underline that TNA respects the will of the people and request the people of Othaya to be patient as the party and other organs deal with the matter. But one thing they can trust on one thing: Their vote on January 19 will be respected.
