IN NEED OF YOUR HELP
This boy is called Martin Obila. He hails from Rongo in Migori County. Yesterday, Monday at around 7.30 pm, he sauntered into Kakamega High School armed with an admission letter and a result slip showing that he had been called to the national school after scoring 387 marks in the last year’s KCPE examinations at an institution called Siala primary.
He had trekked for two days from his home, since Sunday, to make it to Kakamega, a place and school he had never been to since he was born 16 years ago. He was exactly the way he appears in this photo. He covered that distance on empty stomach and in slippers.
He pleaded with the school to help him get admitted because he was a destitute but had the thirst for education that would eventually see him becoming a neurosurgeon.
The Principal Oliver Minishi was moved by the boy’s plight, offered him a place to sleep after having a meal. This morning, he was paraded on the school assembly where fellow students, also touched by his predicament, offered to contribute cash to help him get some shopping. They started from 0. However, Mr. Alex Wakhungu, the teacher who was sent to do that, says the less than Ksh. 10,000 that was raised was not enough. He only bought what could sustain the boy in school as they await any help from any Good Samaritan(s).
Martin is in dire need of help. He covered a distance of over 100 kilometres to reach the school of his dreams. He says whoever agrees to help him with school fees will never live to regret. Please if you are touched and feel you can help, kindly reach the school on 0723 830 135 and talk to Mr. Andati.
Thank you in advance and GOD bless.
