THIS WEEK Eliud Owalo. pleasantly surprised residents of Kibra when he stopped over for an impromptu shopping of Omena delicacy from roadside vendors deep inside the Kibra informal settlements. Owalo bought four mkebes of omena for his family dinner and also for roadside passers-by who mobbed him at the scene.
Omena (known as dagaa in Kiswahili) is a highly nutritious small fish caught during moonless nights on Lake Victoria. Its a very popular dish for communities living around the lake in the East African countries.
