HOPING THAT ABABU SECRETLY RECORDED UHURUTO LIKE HE CLANDESTINELY RECORDED RAILA ODINGA

Look at the pictures again. The smirk on Uhuru’s and Ruto’s face show it. We last saw similar smiles when they were receiving Musalia Mudavadi to their side and before that Rachel Shebesh too, who like Musalia was a huge catch from the ODM side. Musalia’s signed agreement was torn and flushed down the loo as soon as he crossed over.

This morning, pictures of ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba being part of a delegation making a courtesy call on President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto have emerged just days after the SG snubbed a similar meeting called by his Western colleagues to meet with his own Party Leader Raila Odinga.

While it is the right of any citizen to meet with and consult with the Presidency, one cannot ignore the fact that he the SG was simply unable join his Party Leader when there is an important caucus with MPs from Western region in Nairobi – days before he supposedly fell ill from a bout of food poisoning.

To add insult to injury, it has been months since Ababu Namwamba was seen at any ODM or CORD coaltion event, the same Ababu who ordinarily very quick to to join political non-starters like Wamalwa and Jirongo to advance a narrow ethnic agenda during village funerals.

When the ODM whose national secretariat Ababu heads as SG released its official assessment and response on the Jubilee national budget policy statement, the SG opted to delegate the presentation to Orange House workers, who flanked the National Chairman as he addressed national media. In other words, he had no time for the party’s budget policy document which he is expected to debate in parliament.

From the look of things, it looks like Ababu Namwamba who left the PAC Chairman office in disgrace, will be voting to support Jubilee government bills regardless of the common position taken by his own party.

Eyebrows were raised when the Secretary General was totally absent for the launch of the Okoa Kenya referendum bill. We certainly noticed his absence when CORD principals hosted the US Secretary of State John Kerry at Serena Hotel. In sharp contrast, Hassan Omar Hassan the WDP SG, is always by the side of his Party Leader during important coalition meetings and public rallies. The same can be said of the FORD-K SG.

Early this month, in the absence of the SG, the ODM Party Executive Director was forced to to announce the restructuring of the party so its architecture conforms to and reinforces the principle of subsidiarity upon which devolution is founded. During the time the Deputy Party Leader Ali Hassan Joho launched the ODM Relief, meant to help communities in distress, you guessed it, Ababu the SG was absent. And true to form, he conveniently stayed away during the last PG meeting.

Really, when is the last time you spotted Ababu Namwamba at any ODM function or with his party leader? Other than when he keeps reminding us of this charade he calls “one last bullet” when inferring to his own party leaders’ political future; what other value does this man bring to the ODM table?

But perhaps more importantly, did Ababu also secretly record Uhuruto using his Samsung Galaxy Note 3, as he did clandestinely record his own Party Leader for political insurance?
