One of those indicated as State Officers sacked by President Uhuru is Francis Oyatsi, who is listed as MD of Nzoia Sugar Company. However, Oyatsi had been suspended in 2008 and the current MD of Nzoia Sugar is Saul Wasilwa.
Either I’m missing something or we are being taken for a ride.
Francis Oyatsi’s tenure as MD of Nzoia was terminated in 2008 after he was accused of malfeasance. A court would later award him damages for wrongful dismissal amounting to Ksh 13.5 million shillings.
Nzoia Sugar was recently mentioned in tyregate scandal – where several State corporations, including Armed Forces Canteen Organization, Kenya AirForce, Ministry of Roads, Ministry of State for Defence, East African Portland Cement Company (EAPCC) and Telkom Kenya pocketed millions of shillings in bribes to award tenders to American tyre company Goodyear.
In fact, I asked (on twitter) Former Roads Minister Franklin Bett if he took the bribes on behalf of the roads ministry then under him. He responded arrogantly.
Tyregate occurred between 2007 and 2011.
An American court fined Goodyear over sh 1.5 billion for the corruption. It was in this case that the Kenyan accomplices (the organizations i’ve listed above) were publicly named.
Question is: Why is State House lying that Francis Oyatsi is the MD of Nzoia and that he has been sacked (he has resigned)? Even if he is working in government, he isn’t the Mumias MD and corruption also involves misrepresentation of facts, outrageous innuendo and woeful lies, spread at the highest echelons of power!
