Aden Duale is reported to have declared that if Kanu joins Jubilee, then they are moving out. Aden Dualle is Ruto’s mouthpiece just like Kuttuny, which means that he is only doing Ruto’s bid.
We all know that KANU as a party died long time ago, but Ruto or URP seems to be scared of it. There’s an elephant in Jubilee’s room that only Ruto can notice. I don’t want say Ruto is having visual hallucinations, but he is at least paranoid that Kanu wants to take a portion of his loaf.
When will the ever paranoid Ruto develop some confidence of his own? He wants people to be chased away from a coalition instead of him fighting it out with them. Eugene, Kalonzo all became impossible to keep in G7 because of Ruto’s insecurity and therefore impractical demands.
He thought they might take away his VP slot, which is as far as his paranoia will let him settle for. His security has to come from other things like pre-election pacts, not his inner self, inner confidence. Inside Ruto’s soul thrives insecurity. He guards Uhuru like a jealous wife guards her husband.
When Uhuru talks to any potential political suitor, Ruto interrogates him to disclose what it is they were discussing or else URP is out. I even hear he pays private investigators to track who Uhuru talks to. When Uhuru receives phone calls when they are meeting over coffee, Ruto wants to know who it was he was talking to.
He was so mad and jealous when Eugene took center stage at the TNA launch. He was like Uhuru, “how can you do this to me and URP? I thought I can trust you better than Raila. You m#* are just the sameâ€. And from then there was a lull from joint rallies.
That is why TNA/URP agreement was lodged early, even when MM requested that they hold on until he cobbles up a UDF led coalition. Like in a come we stay, the man wanted a certificate.
Methinks Ruto’s troubles stem from his low self esteem that makes him lack the confidence that he is good enough to stymie competition from whichever quarters. He is already an ethnic Kingpin, but he still lacks confidence as to whether Gideon- a political weakling can wrestle the ethnic Kingpin tag from him.
Ruto’s inferiority complex in the midst of other big boys can be explained based on his background- abuse as a child- being made to sell mahindi choma and ingokho to the buses on the Eldoret- Kapsabet Road- might have made him think low of himself. In YK 92, Moi also used him badly, while he was still a young boy making him carry sack loads of heavy printed 500 shilling notes- on his back.
That was just a stage in life, and Ruto has to forge forward, and endeavor to carry the hustler’s banner to the finish line, not restrict his progress to his past. He should have fought for the Jubilee ticket. I feel disappointed that he was the last hustler standing in the race but he bolted out due to his paranoia.
The others like Mudavadi, Uhuru, might have had a rich upbringing which makes them have a higher self esteem, no wonder they aim higher. Ruto has to change trajection and stop making us the hustlers to be a laughing stock of the nouveu riche. He should have been on that Jubilee flag bearer ballot. Â He is letting the rich kids have their way.
The hustler plight should have been represented on Super-Tuesday. But Ruto made it a battle of the Royals. That we the hustlers cannot be president, no matter how smart or eloquent we are. He has betrayed us. He has sacrificed us.
Thanks to Ruto’s paranoia, our destinies as hustlers are restricted to just so far. Now I hope you understand how Ruto’s paranoia affects all of us the hustlers. Because of Ruto dropping out, all we have are rich kids standing for the Jubilee ticket fight. And now the choice comes down to which rich kid represents the plight of the hustler. The Poor kid who rose through the ranks, decided to fight another day. It will be too late. You are effectively elbowed out.
And now, in 2013, turns out the choice will be between (the rich kid who used his inheritance to serve the fellow rich by establishing an international school to prepare the next generation of the Royal and Western mannered children- Peponi School and also establish a company that impoverishes dairy farmers by buying milk at cheap prices) versus (the rich kid who used his inheritance to advance the plight of the poor, establishing the Raila Education Center for the poor and by representing a constituency littered by the filthy poor).
On the ballot most likely, would be the rich kid whose unfair business decisions and barriers to entry read monopolistic practices drove KCC out of business, thus impoverishing millions of dairy farmers in the vast Rift Valley Province.
Ruto’s paranoia has just made him betray these farmers. He has delivered his support base back to the jaws of the lion that deliberately impoverished his people until Kipruto Arap Kirwa as an Agriculture minister revived KCC.
He is so easy to make jealous. Like he became jealous of Eugene, he is once again jealous of Gideon and KANU.
Ruto abhors democracy, justice and fairness. He wants to thrive in Vladmir Putin style of Communist type of environments. He loves government. That is why he chooses the side with the wielders of power, even when his age mates are at war with the Establishment.
It is why in the 90s he stuck with the establishment when his age mates were toiling in a jobless environment, while he had fun in the Moi kitchen cabinet. Ruto never raised a voice. The only time he did, he was talked into it by Kipruto Kirwa, but Ruto immediately chickened out, betrayed Kipruto by kneeling before Moi, and begging forgiveness in exchange for an appointment in government.
