My heart goes out today to two ”foolish” Kenyans and all other Kenyans considered to be “fools”.
Dr. Nelson Githinji and Eng Micheal Kamau are two Kenyans that I have interacted with in various ways. Dr. Githinji is one man that really espouses the meaning of the words integrity and humility.
As comptroller of State House, he would join Bank queues and wait patiently. A couple of months ago, a friend of mine spotted him in Limuru seated in a bench with peasants waiting to be served in a Government office.
For a man that cannot even jump a queue,I was not surprised when reports came that the Authority to Incur Expenses was snatched away from him at the NYS and given to his Deputy. That action alone speaks volumes. He must have refused to play ball- and called “Foolish”.
Eng Micheal Kamau was one guy that I got to know during my time when doing several stories on corruption. One word that was constantly being used by people around Infrastructure docket was that he was “Foolish” since he always refused to play ball. He was one person that was behind the mega infrastructure projects in Kenya.
It is very suspect that Kamau was hurriedly removed from office just before proceeds of Eurobond was “invested” in Infrastructure.
I may not have details of the issues that they are being accused of, but something stinks to the high heavens when Public officers well known for hard work and high levels of integrity are the ones being dragged to courts, and those well known to be “not foolish” are enjoying full freedom.
