With the just concluded election in which the ruling class massively rigged to maintain their grip on power, one can hardly scratch the surface to reveal fear and uncertainty for those residing in places belonging to tribes other than their own. I have spoken to a friend who tells me he has to pretend he is happy with the election to maintain his safety!
The tribal innuendos on the internet alone appear to be like sparkles that can easily ignite into a full-blown fire as the so called “government†now starts to bully the prime minister NOT to use his office as it has already been allocated to the “Deputy-President-electâ€! This is in direct violation of the law and guidelines to overrule the Transitional council long before even the current government’s term of office is over!
The media in Kenya, mainly owned by the ruling class has maintained a blackout on the otherwise very strong case being petitioned at the Supreme court following the utterly ridiculous vote tallying exercise that has become more and more apparent to have been doctored and manipulated to install a watchman to carry on the mantle of impunity!
The only mistake the CORD team did was to be complacent that all these cunning games were being planned and for the first time actually believed that the vote would be free and fair. The whole country had no doubt that even if it came to technical voting along tribal lines, the jubilee team had no chance as they only had strongholds in 2 of the 8 provinces in Kenya with an almost equal share in Nairobi!
Shamelessly there is this IEBC video clip on YOUTUBE (search for – “MULIKA MWIZIâ€) featuring an election official reading out the votes in one constituency where there were 25,000 registered voters however, through some miraculous intervention, the jubilee leader manages a whopping 51,000 votes! That means a 200% plus voter turnout in just that one constituency! This is not just criminal, it is inhumane! If I were to cite the amount I have personally gathered, in a free court, I’d hardly need a lawyer to overturn the decision to declare one man a winner in a rightfully disputed election.
There are those die hard Uhuru supporters – great for you – he is your choice, however the election was to be based on honest numbers cast. If Uhuru was a man of integrity, he would be the first to correct this situation. He however would not bulge- the stakes are too high for darker secrets that we can fathom, and therefore, even the state machinery is thrown at his disposal to do everything to hang on illegally to grab power.
It is no wonder, Obama compares us to Syria. I for one would rather the International community minds their business and stop poking into our affairs, however, the truth is – we are weak – beside, the international community have a lot to gain from every conflict especially in Africa. God forbid that this tense situation should escalate to violence and civil war. In Africa, the flames spread senselessly fast!
I urge Uhuru Kenyatta to respect Raila Odinga – and to preach the same to his followers who are now taunting the prime minister. While he remains Prime Minister, even for another 1 hour, he should be free to use his office without intimidation! I believe Kibaki is still making use of his offices and his official residence.
For my friends, please unfriend yourself from me if you are glorifying your tribe against another – I can have nothing to do with tribal “friendsâ€! Tribalism is a disease similar to Racism! I CANNOT accept it. For me, I celebrate my country’s rich and diverse cultures from the gentle Taitas and Miji-Kenda of the Coast to the Turkana and Kalenjin and Massai of the Great Rift Valley – The Luhya and Luo, The Gusii and Kuria, The Akamba and Ameru and Aembu, Agikuyu, and the Njemps and Rendille and Borana and and the Somalis of Kenya and many many more– We are ONE absolutely beautiful family! And this for me is not limited to KENYA, some of you know how passionate about AFRICA! If I had the resources, I’d want to travel and listen to EVERY TRIBE AND TONGUE IN OUR VAST CONTINENT – from the Fulani and Yoruba of West Africa to Xhosa and Tswana of South Africa – a thousand strong languages and dialects – rich culture!
If we must ridicule one another, let it be about our varied and funny accents! And please do not exhaust oxygen with stupid arguments based on tribal preferences – Raila has EVERY right to take his grievances to COURT! Sadly, with the way things are going, we can hardly believe we’ve progressed back in time!
I hereby officially inaugurate the Civil Rights Movement in Kenya, AGAIN!
