Jubilee leaning Jackalnews.com is reporting exclusively of the simmering row between Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and his bosses in the ruling jubilee coalition- President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto.
The bone of contention is DEVOLUTION as is enshrined in the constitution vs the wishes of Uhuru Kenyatta’s kitchen cabinet! Senator Murkomen is the chairman of the senate devolution committee that is accused of fueling tension between powerful bureaucrats in the Kenyatta government and senate and County governors.
Senator Murkomen seem to have taken over the fire and spirit as per Mutula Kilonzo´s gospel= that is empowering counties as per the letter and spirit of the constitution.
One wonders if Jackalnews’ report on the bad blood between Murkomen and powers that be is an indication of a coming soon “dooms day”, with sexual allegations being thrown into the young senator’s court, the possibility of getting him into imaginary scandals is something that can not be ruled out, sexual scandals will keep him busy hence no time to participate in national dialogue.!
Let it be remembered that senator Murkomen was a lead drafter of the URP TNA memorundum of understanding that culminated in the formation of the Jubilee Alliance, a special purpose vehicle that was used by Uhuru and Ruto in the March 4th general election.
Here is the exclusive report by Jackalnews.com:
President Kenyatta, Ruto Declare War On Senator Murkomen; and Then Sex Scandal Emerges
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, are on a war path with Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, a vocal man who has been losing friends so fast.
And now, the troubles of the young senator just escalated. There are wild allegations of steamy sex scandal trailing the married leader.
Let us start at the top. Uhuru Kenyatta recently told Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi that Murkomen was treading on dangerous ground.
‘‘Huyo rafiki yako anaitwa Murkomen… mwambie tumemtolea gloves,’’ Sudi told a contact for this website aboard a helicopter to Marakwet over the weekend.
Sudi said the brief conversation took place at JKIA as Kenyatta arrived from Uganda from a summit.
‘‘The president was echoing similar concerns by William Ruto that Murkomen was fighting the government for no fundamental agenda,’’ a source close to the presidency explained.
Murkomen is chairman of the Senate Committee on Devolved Government. He has been the most vocal proponent of devolution. When Kenyatta recently signed into law the Division of Revenue Bill that ignored recommendations of the senate, Murkomen led senators in criticizing the national government.
He said that there was a conspiracy to cripple the Senate and have it wound up.
“We have no business being senators if we have no business to do with allocation of resources to our counties… It is a deliberate scheme and a conspiracy of other institutions to ensure that the Senate is discarded,†Murkomen said.
A source overheard him speaking by telephone saying that if he had 200 million shillings, ‘‘angezungusha Ruto kwa mambo ya devolution’’.
‘‘In recent weeks, Ruto has been so mad with Murkomen. The thinking was that Murkomen, despite being Ruto’s party senator, has been criticizing the government without principle,’’ a source, close to some powers, said.
And the odds do not end there. The Standard’s Nairobian gossip newspaper reported over the weekend that the senator had been seen taking different women – supposedly – concubines – to the hotel gym where he attends.
The newspaper did not explain more on the nature of the relationship the senator was having with the women. In theory, the title suggested that the lawmaker was having sexual affair with the women, without naming the local leader.
The brief article rubbed it in, saying the people he represent in Elgeyo Marakwet only saw him on TV – Citizen TV.
Although in all fairness, having been at odd with most Elgeyo Marakwet leaders, Murkomen realized it was time to mend fences. But then again, he does not have any good will from the local leadership, and many locals.
He has been trying to reach out to the governor, Alex Tanui Tolgos, a humble, friendly but tough leader who has no time for sideshows, and an agenda to turn around the county.
‘‘Murkomen has seen better days. He has lost most of his friends. Actually, he does not keep friends at all,’’ a senior political source said at a popular Nairobi West hotel, wondering how the legislator would cope with all these bad press.
‘‘Perhaps he should start by being human again,’’ another contact, watching Rugby, added.
He may have to forget being the next William Ruto in Rift Valley.
Well, the alleged sex scandal and political combat are fights he will fight he will lose.
