Deputy President William Ruto has requested the ICC to reschedule his trial so that he returns to Kenya, a move many are are interpreting as evading justice. If the court allows the deputy president to travel home, it will convince other watchers that the ICC is a political court where justice is done at the discretion of the accused.
Events like these happening now are part of the reasons a great many Kenyans wanted a 24hr commander-in-chief and his deputy. Kenyans want the ICC to let done with as soon as possible hence employing delaying tactics, like the new strategy of the deputy president should be condemned in the strongest terms possible.
William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta convinced Kenyans that there government would be possible through skypes and other new media, or digital media tools. Is it not time we test whether this part of the pledge was right, or fair to Kenyans?
William Ruto is not a medical practitioner; he is not a health worker; and he also needs to be aware that the case, of murder, rape, destruction of property, torture etc are as close to the hearts of Kenyans as the West Gate mall terror.
The country is digital, and Holland offers the fastest internet speed anywhere in the world.
After Kenyans are through with Westgate, it is time the country should take a long look and dialogue. Is Uhuruto presidency serving this country? Kenyans of goodwill are urging Hon Ruto to stay at the Hague, at least, the president is still around, and in charge.
Clearing you name at the Hague is part of a responsibility you owe the country. Remain within the court precepts, because, that is the Law.
