RAILA’S ONLINE FORCE CALLS FOR SANCTIONS OVER DRACONIAN LAW.
We firmly support the position taken by CORD Secretariat chief and visionary Eliud Owalo in his open letter o the diplomatic community calling for economic and political embargo, to stop the government from entrenching the new draconian security law. In the face of a so determined government, only sanctions can break its crab fingers and bring back ‘common’ to its wandering senses.
This law will only turn Kenya into an ‘Absurdistan’, where regime Taliban go after every imaginary and or perceived opponent–political or otherwise—under the pretext of subversion. It is carefully designed to provide fertile grounds for persecution of political nemesis and those who hold contrary views to those espoused by the government and its ‘watu ya mkono’ like the previous Chief’s Act and Section 2A which opened a flood gate of gross human right violations in 1980’s and early 90’s. Selective prosecution of CORD affiliated bloggers and a free hand given to Jubilee bloggers who even call for assassination of CORD leadership, and still roam the streets unperturbed like Goliath says it all.
We refuse to believe this law is about curbing insecurity explaining its silence on corruption, extortion, bribery and dereliction of duty in the police force and immigration department—a wind fanning the flames of insecurity and terrorism. What became of ‘Nyumba Kumi’, a stillbirth from a clueless regime that neither knows what it wants nor where it wants to go, thus desperately sticking to any road that will take it anywhere?
Imagine how government security machinery hack people’s social media accounts, SMS’es, tap phones etc, how kidnappers and even hardcore criminals Bernard Matheri among others was tracked through their phones and brought to justice. The current law gives the security machinery enough teeth to bite, let government and its songbirds stop prefacing the truth by ignorantly covering its failures through rhetoric’s and emotional arguments.
Dear Kenyans, recall what Hitler did in Germany was very legal. Same applies to Pinochet in Chile, Iddi Amin in Uganda, Pol Pot in Cambodia and Bedel Bokasa in Central African Republic among other blood lusting despots. Picture regime thugs like the infamous Artur Brothers and their successor Stanly Livondo going about their business before this law, what about now? Will regime thugs not turn Kenya into another Libya, Afghanistan and Pakistan?
We cannot afford to barter our civil liberties signed by the ink of liberation heroes’ blood. We stand shoulder to shoulder with great patriotic minds like Eliud Owalo. Sanctions MUST now rain thunderously to discourage the government from shipping Kenya down the path to anarchy by a regime inspired by Nebuchadnezzar and reading from the notes of the North Korean demagogic president. A regime that; wants to rule by fear, chases shadows instead of real substance, won on lies and can’t sustain its promissory deficits on lies. Unfortunate as it may sound, the only solution is either sanctions or sanctions or simply sanction.
