WHY DO THEY HATE VOICE OF REASON?
There is nothing much in the saying that it is easy to give just and wise counsel to others but hard to act justly and wisely for oneself – Albert Einstein.
Towards the end of the nineteenth century the Russian people were chafing under the tyranny of their government. Stupid blunders in their foreign policy further strained their temper until it reached the breaking point. In this extremity the rulers of Russia sought to divert unrest by inciting the masses to hatred and violent towards the Jews.
These tactics were repeated after the Russian government had drowned in the dangerous revolution of 1905 in blood – and in this maneuver may have well helped to keep the hated regime in power until near end of the World War. This history is seen repeating itself right here in Kenya.
After the two previous general elections including the bloody 2007 which saw some tribal leaders summoned to The Hague, immediate attempts were made to blame H.E Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga for instigating the chaos and then losing it.
The ruling elite from a certain region together with a small unscrupulous and insolent group decided to devote their energy in attacking the former PM whom they saw and still see as their only threat to their grand plan of converting the Republic of Kenya into a Kingdom of a certain community.
The crimes in which the CORD Leader has been accused in the course of history – crimes which were to justify atrocities perpetrated against him – have changed in rapid succession. Recently he was falsely accused with a systematic attempt of the economic sabotage by defending millions of Kenyans whose lifeline depend on sugarcane farming. Politicians suffering from verbal diarrhea have gone public claiming that the CORD Leader owes Mumias millions of shillings – something that they cannot substantiate.
Books, articles and tweets have been published to brand him inferior, dangerous, unelectable, fermenting wars and revolutions for his own selfish interest as well as an enemy of the true progress. In the same breath he has been accused of being stubbornly inflexible, charges known to his instigators to be untrue all along but which time and again influenced their tribal masses.
Now that one of their own is the head of State and Government the tribal masses have decided to incline themselves to hatred and cruelty against other Kenyans. They no longer care whether education is accessible in Northern Kenya, whether tourism is dying in coastal Kenya, whether millions of lives depending on sugarcane are at risk, whether insecurity in Turkana and other parts of Kenya is at all-time high or whether billions are being looted from public coffers in the name of NYS among others.
They have gone ahead to create millions of fake twitter and other social media accounts just to attack any voice of reason for their own political gains. The saddest part is that the billions of loots from the public coffers never trickles down the foot soldiers who shout the loudest but instead the economic ruins is what trickles down to them and the rest of innocent Kenyans without discrimination.
Wealth distribution in our beloved country is dangerously skewed especially with certain regimes clinging onto power. It is unfortunate that the country is ruled by people who have never known what it means to ‘work hard’ because they have never worked hard in their lives – all that they have has either been inherited and/or looted. Some of them were born with bodyguards standing next to them and thus will never understand why others are complaining about insecurity.
Whenever CORD Leader speaks on matters of national interest such as security, equal distribution of national resources, rule of law among others he is said to be unpatriotic and incorrigibly stubborn. Individuals are paid by the state to tweet hate messages against him and his community – they forget that that it is his role as the leader of opposition to put the government on check.
We need political parties, we need opposition and we need bold people like Raila Odinga especially with the kind of leadership that Kenya has at the moment. Taking us back to one party state or trying to convert our Republic into a Kingdom is what Kenyans should resist by all mean. Without political parties the political interest of the citizen of any state are bound to languish. There will be no forum for free exchange of opinions and individuals will be isolated and unable to assert their convictions.
Albert Einstein once said that “Political convictions ripen and grow only through mutual stimulation and criticism offered by individuals of similar dispositionâ€. Centralization, i.e. elimination of independent groups – leads to one–sidedness and barrenness in science and arts because such centralization checks and even suppresses any rivalry of opinions and research trends.
