An open letter to Senator Billow Kerrow
Salamullah bwana senator,
Honoring Human Rights and asking authorities to respect human lives should have earned you a Gold medal not intimidation and threats to your life. You are a global voice of Muslim community: a group of people wants you mum, they want you to shut both your ears and eyes but their efforts will never bore fruits. They can threaten you, intimidate you and shame you, and they can call you names but they cannot not silence you because you are committed human right champion. Pole sana! this is how every insensitive government deals with its citizens.
Bwana senator the reoccurring desapearance of people, the extrajudicial killings that is going on in our county and the failure of Jubilee government to protect the lives and property of its citizens are reasons enough to change your political allegiance and lead the people of Mandera to where there is hope.
You have nothing to lose and like wise the people of mandera have nothing to lose. You see the people you represent are starved of education, development and they have no decent lives. There are no teachers in classrooms, we have been marginalised for 50 years and the little gain brought about by devolution is making your president jelous.
Your president is the first president ever in the history of world who appealed against his citizens population and the subjected the number of his people to court.
Bwana senator a starved population has nothing to lose when the only thing it can taste is the dehumanizing matter of its perils. I know you have seen the Masses of people who took to the streets the slogans of Jubilee government down fall in Mandera. And you must have seen their tears and the pleadings they made to Cord principle Raila Odinga to agitate for their rights. They did all that because there is this feeling of having nothing to collectively lose. They are fade up with the government you said you work for in your facebook post as if you are seeking some sympathy from the bosses of this regime.
I hope I did not forget that you are human and you can be cowed and the ordeals you passed through yesterday can put you into submission and bow your head that was up with pride, dignity and honor. Such crises stands as the only eventuality that bonds leaders with their constituents, we will persevere against the odds of adversity if we read from the same script, and we expect you to reconcile with the reality that the people you represent are turning their back on the government you work for. And they want you to deliver their message. I hope you will do.
Bwana senator, the fact that the government forced an apology out of Mandera leaders shows the kind of respect the government have for you. while some leaders say what they want -ask people to cut each other’s throats with machetes- are untouchable.
Lastly but not the least I request you to convey a meesage to The leader of Majority Hon Aden Duale. Tell him that, he first represent his constituents. Tell him his office and the his position are not favours done to him by the duo he extremely loves. I don’t want to call him a sycophant but remind him that our faith, humanity and patriotism are put to the ultimate test by the duo at whose behest he can willingly commit suicide.
It is blatantly obvious such degree of sycophancy will not save the people he represent from the brutal policy of the government he fiercely defends. His sycophancy failed to save him from Jubilee MPs when he failed to deliver the list of terrorists he promised to deliver.
Bwana senator, we cannot afford to witness egocentrism and ethnocentrism to substitute the constitution of kenya and the rule of law. The government that throws out the rule of law and overlook every crime against humanity is not our government anymore. It is upto you to be the government like Hon Aden Duale or with your people. The ball is in your court! Jumca kareem
