A MATTER OF GREAT CONCERN
By Hon Jim Bonnie
As a good political student, I do spend time studying how politics is played in other countries, how various campaigns have been conducted and how to identify both winning strategies and those that will lead to a fatal failure.
I have studied Barack Obama 2008 campaign, how he managed to effectively use technology for targeting and messaging and how his super campaign team managed to crash the Republican propaganda that Obama is a Muslim.
I have also read about Mitt Romney and John MacCain, the mistakes that cost them the presidency and how they conducted their campaigns.
I have also looked at Liberia, Nigeria, Malawi Tanzania, Greece, Russia, China and many more. Here at home, I am going through a book called HardTackle, a book full of lies and few facts. It has some chapters dealing with how Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaigns were conducted though not comprehensive enough for a thirsty brain.
Other relevant documents also beings to fore how the Jubilee coalition fine tuned and effectively sold the propaganda about age and ICC to their target voters. I have also gotten something documenting Peter Kenneth’s losing campaigns. But my curiosity will not be served fully until I read the conduct of Raila Odinga 2013 presidential campaigns.
My generation need to educate itself from how 2013 election was conducted including and not limited to digital rigging. This will help us perfect our skills and avoid any mistake committed by the campaign management team and also learn from what they did right.
The much we know was that elections were stolen. We need someone who has documented about this campaign either in form of a book or pamphlet.
We need to know the facts behind the scenes, the behind the scenes boardroom or backstage backstabbing, who was charged with what, who failed to do what, who did what, what were the weaknesses and why we failled to protect our votes. Such information is very vital as it will help young budding future campaign managers perfect their skills and enable us constitute a formidable campaign for Raila or any other candidate in the future.
For those who admire accountability and honesty, it will help us a great deal in holding to accountable whoever fucked up our dream yet he/she is still hoodwinking us that he/she still believes in the course. Don’t quote me out of context pal, what are your thoughts?
