Homabay bye-lection results should be a wakeup call to all of us in ODM. We must swallow our pride and be concerned about why over 250k voters did not cast their votes either for Moses Kajwang’ or any other candidate despite the home-to-home campaign conducted by Raila.
Yes, ODM won, but we must deviate from the excitement of the slim win and worry about things that matters most.
Our so called political strategists, I don’t know whether we have such folks, found it deserving, without doing any research, to send a very dangerous campaign message that the battle was between Raila and Uhuru. If I go by their statements, I don’t know whether I will be correct to state that the 130k Moses got belonged to Raila and on the same, Uhuru Kenyatta managed over 25k votes, votes that Okundi got, at Raila’s backyard even without going to campaign.
What am I talking about? Going forward, we must start designing appropriate political messages that will convince voters to go and vote as opposed to messages that only excites crowds in rallies. I tell you for a fact, voters will have to be thoroughly convinced as to why they should vote for Jakom in 2017.
Baba was jailed and vitendawili will do good to charge the crowds, however, Raila think Tank must come up with an extraordinary campaign messaging and explosive propaganda that would make old and new voters want to vote for Raila.
This means that Raila must have a team that thoroughly polish him and his message before he goes public with them not only during political rallies but also on matters of public interest. Somebody will argue that I should not teach Raila politics, that is where the problem starts. I may be wrong in my suggestion though.
