A replacement of one of the most “useful” people in the Jubilee government is said to be in the offing. That person is the so called ‘Government Spokesman’ Muthui Kariuki. Had Kariuki been from any other place, many people agree he would be the kind of person to be somewhere not familiar to many but MK got a place in the digital broadband from where he has reduced government communication to nothing.
Because the government is keen to keep the population fully fed on divisive politics, and sideshows, Kariuki is said to be on his way out. What is interesting is that the inner core of the Jubilee government feels Muthui’s abrasiveness is often misplaced.
“I can assure you he is going out, we don’t need him,” said a state house operative. “His place, if it is going to  be retained, will probably be given to Kuria,” added the source. The source, however, on further prodding, revealed he may just be transferred elsewhere, and not that he will be fired.
“We learnt a lot with (sic) Miguna,” he joked, alluding to former Raila advisor on coalition affairs, Ken Miguna Miguna.
Recently, Muthui lambasted Cord Leader Raila Odinga for a series of sad events which occurred in Kisii, where the president’s speech could not be read, and the now most ignoble statements surrounding the disposal of vehicles being used by Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
While Kariuki is said to be unapologetic, people around President Kenyatta says even the president was caught unaware.
“He would not have given those orders, president Kenyatta is not a vindictive individual, and people need to know that.” revealed the source while defending his boss.
Asked why he thinks it is Kuria (Moses) going for the position, the source claimed it is the ‘popular view’ within the inner sanctum of the presidency.
“The litmus test for our government is the ICC cases beginning later this year. We do not want a person who can say anything, and anyhow, to be seen to talk on behalf of the presidency”.
This is how JackalNews a TNA leaning news platform reported on the matter back in mid April this year http://www.thejackalnews.com/gossip/kenya-goverment-spokesman
Even then, the incoherent man who is supposed to speak eloquently for the government should not try hard to find a new office. He will soon be leaving, either to inflation or back to the dusty Ministry of Information offices. Either way, it is a slippery slope for him. It is a sad journey.
Meanwhile, TNA strategist Moses Kuria, who is reportedly lobbying to be the government spokesman, reportedly stampeded into the now vacated offices last Thursday and sought details about its operations in preparation to settle, should President Kenyatta hire him.
Well, even if he does, then he will seek another office to do government spin. ‘‘Moses Kuria was here,†a source told the Jackal News. Well, may the Heavens will hear Kuria this time.
But Moses Kuria, many outside the Jubilee also agree, is just another Muthui; only that he often wants to pander to his readers as someone who knows a lot of things.
“I have read most of his articles, well, he appears to me as someone very bitter with everyone opposed to UK,” offered a critic. However, his connections with most major media houses seems to be the driving force behind those pushing for his appointment, including himself. He is said to be the person who kept most journalists waiting in the vein hope of being appointed in the presidential press team.
“He told most of our colleagues that he would ensure they get on the president’s team. Some here are still waiting,” said a leading journalist with one of the local TV stations in Nairobi.
