For a man who was the very symbolism of everything wrong with the old order, Dr. Alfred Mutua‘s ”tears” are as useless as the D in Django.
Dr. Alfred Mutua has discovered no gold or oil in Machakos. What has changed in Machakos now is that it is getting its equal share of the national wealth commensurate to what it pooled to the national coffer.
What has changed is that Machakos resources can now get their way back to Machakos without any leader ululating to a ‘mtukufu rais’ in endless delegations to Nairobi statehouse, or Nakuru, or Gatundu, or Karbanet Gardens.
What has changed is that the people of Machakos can pool their resources to the national coffer knowing so well that part of it will return to Machakos.
Mutua is a beneficiary of these changes. He is not these changes. In other words, these changes are mutually exclusive of the existence of Dr.Alfred Mutua. These changes came about without this Mr. Rip Van Winkle.
If he is weeping about the poverty in Machakos then he should give us the statistics. How did this this poverty came to be? You can’t keep on insulting people who kept pooling their resources to a system which literally stole those resources. Referring to them as poor. That’s idiocy! He should tell us whether the money that has been ‘returned’ to Machakos in the last two years had along been there and were being wasted by other Kamba leaders before him.
He should tell us how much, for instance, Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka stole from Machakos people. Between 1963 to 2013, how much did Machakos contribute to national coffers? How much got back to Masaku?
Was not the rationale for devolution a product of the realization that the nation contributed its resources to a small clique of selfish, tribal, hateful and insensitive mandarins of every successive ethnic government which acquired power – democratically or through anarchy? Wasn’t this rationale the reason for counties?
What is devolution if not the model of development of the regions by the regions for the regions? Isn’t devolution not this idea that out of, (comes) forty-seven?
Dr. Alfred Mutua behaves as if devolution is his scientific invention.
Devolution -this new political system which gave him the power to incur expenditure on behalf of the people of Machakos – was fought for.
People died for it.
People were maimed for it.
All this time, wasn’t Mutua not watching from the sidelines? Belching bullshit every Wednesday? Or was it Thursday?
Beyond theatrics, Dr. Mutua should be put in his historical place, between dodo the bird and the sable-toothed deer!
