TNA Legal Affairs Secretary, I dare not mention the second part of his needlessly long designation, responded to certain remarks made recently by former Vice President and Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over the revocation of Lawyer Kethi Kilonzo’s candidature to vie in the Makueni County Senatorial by-election; a seat that was left vacant after the demise of her father, the late Senior Counsel Mutula Kilonzo.
While trying to justify the ‘thug politics’ the ruling Jubilee Alliance has unleashed on CORD/Wiper candidate with devastating results, Mbiuki made an assertion which must be rejected with such intellectual contempt as to remind this low ranking TNA official that certain things are simply incomparable, for example, his idea-less  TNA party and United States Republican political machine.
In a statement, Mbiuki claims unashamed that the kind of ‘background check’ his party performed on the eligibility of Kethi Kilonzo is synonymous with the ‘concerted efforts’ the Republican Party made while ‘investigating’ whether Barack Obama satisfied the requirement in the US Constitution that only ‘natural born citizens’ can vie for the presidency.
First, this Republican-Obama claim is far-fetched and ludicrous to say the least. It can only come from a man who graduated from Law school with a paper certificate which only allows him to write deceitful political statements with no memorable zinger for the hired mainstream media journalists still stuck in the confusion caused after TNA “took” over newsrooms. Truth of the matter is; the Republican Party never questioned Obama’s ‘citizenship status’. I remember at some point, even John McCain, that great American war hero bluntly said in the middle of a highly charged presidential debate that he believed Obama was an American.
To educate Mbiuki, so that he stops embarrassing President Uhuru already struggling to run the country on an empty purse, let me bring the ‘son of a bitch’ (a phrase most journalism students of my class in Moi University commonly use to disdainfully refer to Ahmednassir Abdulahi, because he is so inconsistent in his writings in his column- Nation that it has become cumbersome to study his works) to the origin and politics around the Obama citizenship ‘saga’.
On Sunday June 27, 2004, one of our national dailies, The Standard on Sunday, carried a story about a certain “Kenyan-born” Barrack Obama (notice the misspelled first name) who was poised to win the Illinois Senate seat left vacant by the retiring Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald. In the American culture where family values come before public service, Obama’s main Republican challenger, Jack Ryan, had been forced to step out of the race after shocking revelations of his sex escapades with ex-wife in exclusive adult clubs in Paris, New York and other places.
Obama went on to win the seat which polls had earlier indicated he would all the same had won. This Standard Newspaper story, lifted from AP with subsequent editing, would come to haunt the junior senator four years later as he battled in the primaries for the democratic ticket against a political establishment by the name Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Clinton campaign strategists, sensing defeat, began to use all political arsenals at their disposal to block Obama; part of which including this assertion lifted from The Standard which supported their propaganda that Obama was “kenyan born” thus was technically unqualified to run for the presidency! I hope Mbiuki is still attentive.
Since then, numerous lawsuits has been lodged in many  state courts, and the US  Supreme Court, challenging the illegibility of Obama as the president. A notorious female lawyer, Orly Taitz, is famed for many of these suits. However, in all these suits, before and after Obama became president; none has been ‘openly’ associated with the Republican Party, save for this fresh ‘suit’ in the court of public opinion filed by TNA’s Jasper Mbiuki!
Let me add something; there are conservatives who openly challenged Obama to release his certificates; many are Republicans, but they have often done so ‘in their individual capacities’ as American citizens. A known case is venture capitalist Donald Trump. We in CORD know how this ended. Unlike in Jasper Mbiuki’s shallow imagination, in America, any citizen has a right to information; and citizens practice these rights. For instance, if I wish to know the grades my president received at Amherst-hope I got it correct-he is obliged to make them public to me. That doesn’t mean the ODM party which I am a religious member of, has interest in my concerns with those papers. Sometimes, in free democracies, citizens enjoy the privileges of being citizens!
While I agree with all the other shoddy reasons TNA gave in barring Kethi’s candidature, with all the attendant chest-thumping, including the oxymoronic claim on furthering the ‘rule of law’, I found it revolting that a lazy party official of a political outfit famous for housing dimwits and queer characters like J Muturi would purport to, within a poorly researched press release, rewrite the history of a continuing controversy in the American society just to pander to a constituency not used to ‘fact-checking’.
To avoid this sad situation of a clear dearth of understanding in contemporary American politics next time; I have a suggestion for President Uhuru Kenyatta: Your excellency, please sponsor Mbiuki to an exchange programme in any Chinese university offering a course in American politics. These are the things which make your party and government look bad to CORD supporters.
In conclusion, I welcome whoever wants to engage further in this unsolicited response to TNA’s Mbiuki to bring it on. Facts are very stubborn things. CORDED I remain, CORDED I shall be, till I accept and move on!
