Nyeri Women Rep Hon Priscilla Nyokabi has said Parliament has slowly turned to a mob justice zone, she was reacting to the decision by majority MPs to reject CS nominiee Monica Juma .
Here is her view on the the rejection of Dr Juma;
National Assembly… Mob justice…
It’s sad that the National Assembly has refused to approve the President’s nominee for appointment to the position of Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Monica Juma. Politics in Kenya is quite something… Dr Monica is well trained with a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Oxford. She did her work well and is a conscientious public servant. Her problem was handling of MPs. It is true that as representatives we take issues affecting our areas to executive offices. It is important that the public officers give due regard to public issues raised by Mps. But surely this was no reason to reject Ms Monica’s appointment. Our National Assembly is a mob justice arena. Strong women are particularly in trouble. It’s sad that when you do your work well instead of being hailed for good work in Kenya you get punished for it. I do hope Dr. Monica will continue serving Kenya in different capacities. I do hope the National Assembly will increasingly find the need to stand on the right side of things and make good decisions for our Country. The Assembly is now listening to the Budget Policy Highlights and revenue raising measures for the National Govt Fiscal Year 2015/16. At least on budget we are increasingly getting things right.
