UNIVERSITY OF ELDORET AND THE MENTALITY OF GENOCIDE.
By Gerishon Nganga, LLB via Facebook
Events at the University of Eldoret where locals disrupted learning and the running of the University in a bid to force the University to hire people of a certain ethnic extraction betrays a deeper problem.
They betray the mentality of SOME of the so-called “original inhabitants” of Uasin Gishu County. With my background in Moi’sbridge (half of which is in Uasin Gishu County, i would know). It is a mentality of entitlement.
A mentality that one community should own the land (including the land they have sold for valuable consideration), supply maize, wheat and other cereals to NCPB, Occupy all civil service and parastatal jobs which are located in the area e.t.c.
It is a mentality of ethnic exclusion. A mentality of “the guy from the other tribe is my enemy”. A mentality of genocide. It is for this reason that UASIN GISHU county features prominently in the WAKI REPORT and the AKIWUMI REPORT on tribal clashes. It is the reason one WILLIAM RUTO is facing charges in some far away lands.
But of course, you are welcome to ignore this post. You are welcome to reject the truth.
You are welcome to hide your head in the sand. Indeed, you are welcome to blame 2007 post-election violence on RAILA ODINGA for political expediency. But never forget what i have always warned in this forum. That those masterminded 2007 violence are set to walk scot-free.
Those who actualized it on the ground walked free ages ago. And the machinery of violence in the Rift Valley remains intact
